Jeremy Smith
Outreach Specialist
Jeremy Smith is an Outreach Specialist at CASJ. He provides harm reduction, syringe exchange services, and overdose prevention services to people who use drugs in Nassau and Suffolk counties. Jeremy works closely with program participants, community partners, and other stakeholders to expand access to naloxone, MOUD, drug checking, wound care, and other harm reduction services. Jeremy received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from SUNY New Paltz. He has worked for several nonprofit organizations in New York State and has participated in lobbying efforts in Albany for safer environmental regulations and common sense drug policies, looking at drug use as a health concern rather than a crime.
As someone who has experienced extended periods of homelessness and endured many personal losses due to overdose, Jeremy is committed to public health with special focus on unhoused individuals using drugs. He is a staunch advocate for intersectional participant-centered approaches to harm reduction.
